Consultation has concluded

The trial one way block on Wallace Avenue South has now been established, the municipality wants to monitor traffic in summer and fall conditions through August and September. As you may know, the trial involves extended timing in the East/West and Southbound traffic movement of the intersection by removing the Northbound movement. This trial is considered a shorter term solution to downtown congestion in the core of Listowel, other long term options are being recommended through the Transportation Master Plan.

  • The Municipality of North Perth wants to gather information from businesses in the core of Listowel regarding the one-way block trial on Wallace Avenue South. Council will be making a decision later this summer regarding the future of the One-Way Block and your input is needed. 

    As you may know, the trial has involved extended timing for the East/West and southbound traffic movements at the intersection by removing the northbound movement on Wallace South.

    The trial is considered a shorter-term solution to downtown congestion in the core of Listowel and its impacts on vehicular traffic, pedestrians and parking in the core of Listowel. Other long-term options including a truck bypass are being recommended through the Transportation Master Plan.

    Additional Public Information Centers will be offered for direct comment from businesses as well as discussion with the Consultants and Municipal staff in attendance.  Sessions on July 12th will be held at 1:30pm to 3:30pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Kin Station, all are welcome.

Your comments on the specific questions in the survey are needed in order to gather accurate information and make recommendations to Council in the near future. 

    If you need a paper copy of the survey to fill in, please visit the municipal office at 330 Wallace Avenue North to pick one up. The deadline to complete this survey is July 8th, 2022.
