Consultation has concluded

The Municipality of North Perth has initiated this survey to determine residents’ level of interest in keeping backyard chickens. This survey considers permitting backyard chickens in residentially zoned areas of North Perth.

Currently, the Municipality of North Perth Zoning By-law 6-ZB-1999, as amended, Section 5.24 (v) prohibits the keeping of livestock and bird species in areas other than those zoned as Agricultural (A).

The results of this survey will be used to gauge the level of community interest and solicit feedback on other related issues. Should North Perth Council determine that backyard chickens will be allowed in the areas as noted above, staff will hold further consultation and public education opportunities with the community to determine policies and restrictions.
