Development charges (DCs) are a funding source used to pay for the additional municipal infrastructure and services required to support new development allowing growth to pay for growth. These services include new or expanded water and wastewater systems, roads and transportation infrastructure, recreation facilities, parks, library facilities, fire services and more. They are paid by the developer or landowner at the building permit stage.
The Municipality of North Perth's development charges are required by legislation to be updated by summer 2019. The Municipality conducted a Development Charges Background Study to review growth-related capital projects needed to accommodate our growth. The information is used to update the proposed Development Charges By-law and development charge rates.

Review the Development Charges Background Study found under the "Documents" tab and offer your opinion.
For example, who should pay for growth-related costs? Should existing residents pay in the form of user rates and property taxes? Or should the new development, benefitting from the new infrastructure, pay in the form of development charges or some combination of both?
Written submissions via this form will be accepted until 4:30 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2019.
